Providing Expedited 'one2one' Service LTL & Bobtail Truckloads, throughout California, at rates comparable to routine LTL rates of other carriers.
For larger shipments, usually 6 or more pallets, with our expedited 'one2one' program, your product goes on our truck at your location and then goes straight to your customer. No handling in between, no other customer's freight on board. No loss, no damage and no delay. With this program, we don't run routes, we run exclusively for you and your customer, so you just tell us (1) where to pick it up, (2) where it needs to go, and (3) how much is going, and we will give you our lowest rate possible for service to or from that area. This means that your customer will get the fastest and most direct service available at rates that will improve both your profits. We can also use this program to pick up from your vendor and come straight to you. Expedited 'one2one' Service is available for shipments from 1 to 12 pallets, up to 10,000 lbs. For shipments in excess of 12 pallets or in excess of 10,000 pounds, please call for advance scheduling.
Simple 'Volume Bobtail' and 'Per Pallet' LTL rates for all points of service throughout California. You don't need a lot of freight to get a low rate.
Our rates are based on the maximum amount of weight within a utilized amount of space for a specific destination. This is by a 'per pallet' structure and is very competitive with a per hundred weight (CWT) program used by most carriers, even after all their discounting. Call and compare our rates and services with any other carrier and we are sure you'll agree, you can't get a better value for your money than with our simple per pallet or per truck pricing.
No added 'Fuel Surcharge', the stated rate is the total you are billed. No surprise add on.
Most carriers today quote you a rate and then when you get the actual invoice there is an added fuel surcharge, coastal surcharges, single shipment charges, etc. Not with us. What we quote is the total you are billed, no added surcharges of any kind. If there is an additional service charge, such as with inside deliveries, you'll know about it with your quote.
Why Use Us?
Typical LTL freight operations move your freight by means of a ‘hub & spoke’ type system. A ‘P & D’ driver picks up freight from you and takes it to his local terminal where it is transferred into a ‘short line’ trailer that takes it to a divisional ‘hub’ where it is transferred into a ‘line haul’ trailer that takes it to a regional ‘hub’ where it is transferred into a ‘line haul’ trailer that takes it to a divisional ‘hub’ where it is transferred into a ‘short line’ trailer that takes it to a local terminal where it is transferred into a ‘P & D’ trailer for delivery to your customer. This means that after you load your freight onto the P & D truck it is unloaded and reloaded at least 4 or 5 more times before it reaches your customer. Sometimes even more if it is loaded with a ‘header’ or is loaded to a hub that does not serve the terminals that serve your customer. This is often done just to ‘get it moving’ in the general direction of the destination.
Freight loss and damage is directly related to these transfers of your freight from one trailer to another. The more times you transfer it the more likely it is to become misplaced or damaged. These large carriers ‘build in’ the ‘damage and loss’ factor when establishing rates and policies within their operations. In an effort to maximize their profits, they must put as many shipments as possible onto each trailer. So, the policy is to ‘fill the trailer to capacity’ each time it moves between terminals and hubs. This means double stacking, breaking down pallets, ignoring directional arrows, etc…what ever it takes to stuff every little nook and cranny of that trailer. You will see the very best handling, loading and unloading, between the local terminal and the hub. The ‘hubs’ are where most loss and damage will occur as this is where the primary focus is on ‘cubing’ the trailers to minimize movement costs from hub to hub. Customers are not usually allowed to view the processes at the hubs, however you can still get a good idea of what goes on with your freight by visiting the local terminal.
The system is flawed in that the carrier is establishing their charge to you based on how much freight you ship and establishing their profits based on the minimum use of equipment to move what you ship. So the more that is shipped, the more the equipment is stuffed and, the more likely it becomes that your freight will be lost or damaged. Perhaps the biggest cause or likelihood of these damages comes from the fact that they are always trying to load multiple different products together on the same trailer. The fact is that no matter how you load it, some freight is just not compatible with other freight and the result of trying to ‘make it fit’ is damage. These carriers are willing to gamble with this damage to your freight in the pursuit of their profits. Freight loss and damage claims within this system runs into the millions of dollars each year.
The difference at Wind Delivery Services is that when your freight is loaded onto our truck it goes direct to your customer. It is typically not unloaded and reloaded, not even once, before it reaches your customer. The exact way it leaves your building is the exact way it arrives to your customers building. We don’t load any other freight on our truck with your freight where there is a risk of damage by incompatible other freight. Traditionally, this is referred to as ‘exclusive use’ and has always been the most expensive way for a large carrier to move your freight. However, as a small carrier we can offer these same ‘exclusive’ services at rates that are competitive to the LTL system. Because the large carrier is trying to move so much freight at one time, they must use large equipment and more personnel to handle transfers in loading and unloading, which is a more costly operation. We use smaller trucks which are easier to maneuver, less costly to operate and we don't transfer your freight. We can also combine small shipments, of only your product, to several different customers on one truck for delivery along a particular route, so you don’t need a major shipment to make your ‘exclusive use’ cost effective.
At Wind Delivery Services we believe that our profit should not be tied to the amount that a customer is able to ship with us. It should simply be more about the amount of time we spend serving each customer. Our efforts are therefore directed towards more customers using our service not more freight volume on each truck. Focusing our business this way enables us to provide a superior, damage and loss free, personalized service that is custom tailored to each customer. We devote a truck and driver to serve you and your customers that day. It is like having your own truck and driver without all the daily cost of a vehicle, fuel, payroll, workers comp., insurance, maintenance, etc. etc. There is no better one on one service available, especially at our prices. You can use our services once a day, once a week, or once a month, whatever fits your schedule.
